01 / THE EXPERIENCETHE PEOPLE BEHIND THE SPECTACLE

A town’s pride.
A traveller’s
rare encounter.

The race is the moment. The people are the story.

White shirts. Red scarves. Extraordinary embroidery. In Caravaca de la Cruz, the Wine Horses are not a performance put on for visitors. They are a living expression of local identity, shared across generations.

Signature is designed to give that moment context: the craft of the mantles, the dedication of the caballistas, the life of the peñas and the town beyond the crowds. Proposed encounters are developed with local participants, not assumed from a festival ticket.

Discover the six-day outline
01

Small by design

Never more than six guests in a hosted group. Personal attention and a pace that leaves room for conversation.

02

Depth, not a checklist

Horses, embroidery, heritage and regional dining connected into one story, rather than a series of stops.

03

Defined before you commit

A written proposal sets out the people, places, services, agreed permissions and final investment.

02 / WINE HORSE SIGNATUREPROPOSED PROGRAMME · MAY 2027

The whole journey.
Not just the day.

Six days brought together around one extraordinary tradition.

Arrival, accommodation, regional dining, cultural interpretation and onward travel are considered as a single experience. You bring your curiosity; your proposal brings the detail into focus.

This is the service framework we develop into your personalised proposal. Exact properties, hosts, encounters and availability are confirmed before booking.

01

Five nights, thoughtfully selected

Accommodation category, room configuration and property are specified in your proposal. A boutique stay or exclusive-use property can be explored.

02

Private ground travel

Arrival and departure transfers from Alicante or Murcia airport, plus the agreed itinerary. Vehicle size, luggage and any walking sections are planned together.

03

Hosting for your small group

English-speaking interpretation and a proposed host for each group of no more than six, with a clear daily plan and practical coordination.

04

Regional dining, fully considered

Breakfasts, lunches and dinners within the agreed programme, selected regional wines and dietary requirements discussed before confirmation.

05

The people, horses & craftsmanship

Peña contributions and requested encounters with caballistas, horses and embroidery artisans are scoped and agreed with the people involved.

06

Culture, exhibitions & the festival

The Wine Horses museum, Caravaca’s heritage and festival activities confirmed by the annual programme, with an agreed race-day observation plan.

A contribution to a peña is not a VIP pass. Private encounters, restricted access and any reserved viewing require specific agreement and written confirmation.

RECOGNISED HERITAGE. REAL COMMUNITY.

Extraordinary craft.
Unmistakably Caravaca.

The Wine Horses were inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2020. Its traditions bring together horse breeding, intricate embroidery and a powerful sense of belonging.

03 / YOUR JOURNEY30 APRIL – 5 MAY 2027

Arrive curious.
Leave connected.

Five nights give the celebration room to unfold. Arrival before the busiest days; time for the people and craft; the race on 2 May; and a slower discovery of Caravaca afterwards.

An illustrative outline, not a confirmed departure. Exact times, services, properties and local encounters follow the annual programme and the arrangements agreed in your proposal.

DAY 0130 April

A considered arrival

Settle in, slow down, meet Caravaca

Your proposed journey begins with an airport transfer, time to settle into your accommodation and an introduction to the town over a regional welcome dinner.

DAY 021 May

The people behind it

Caballistas, embroidery & anticipation

Explore the stories of the peñas and the craft of the embroidered mantles. Requested horse and artisan encounters are scheduled only by agreement. Discover the Caballos a Pelo celebrations as the town prepares for race day.

DAY 032 May

The extraordinary

The Wine Horses parade & race

The heart of the journey. Richly adorned horses, four handlers and a community willing them up the castle hill. Your proposal defines the hosting and observation plan; no reserved race position is implied.

DAY 043 May

A deeper connection

Caravaca & the celebrations of the Vera Cruz

Take time for the historic centre, the sanctuary and the wider festivities. Understand the place beyond the spectacle, with a pace shaped around your group.

DAY 054 May

A taste of the region

Regional dining & a personal discovery

A slower day shaped around your interests: heritage, regional gastronomy or a separately agreed excursion. A final dinner brings the stories of the visit together.

DAY 065 May

Leave with a story

Breakfast, farewells & onward travel

Departure is coordinated around your flight or onward plans. Any final festival activity depends on the official timetable and your departure time.

To stay for the closing celebrations on 5 May, ask us about an extra night before departing on 6 May. Any regional extension, extra night or international flight is priced and confirmed in your proposal.

04 / TAILOR-MADE JOURNEYSYOUR GROUP. YOUR OCCASION.

Your people.
Your purpose.
Your pace.

A journey shaped around your group—not the other way round.

A leisurely cultural break, a milestone with friends or time together across generations. Tell us who is travelling and what the trip is for; we develop a proposal around your interests, ages and priorities.

These are starting points for a conversation, not fixed packages. The duration, itinerary, accommodation, transport, meals and balance of cultural or celebratory activities can all change with the purpose of your visit.

  • Shorter visits, regular breaks and unhurried meal times
  • Heritage, museums and regional gastronomy
  • Accommodation, transport and walking requirements discussed together

Festival streets can be steep, uneven and crowded. We review practical needs before proposing a route; step-free access is not guaranteed.

Plan a slower-paced journey

  • A balance of cultural discovery and time to celebrate
  • Sociable meals and activities suited to the occasion
  • Dates, accommodation and activity level shaped around your group

Age-appropriate activities only. Alcohol and adult-only experiences are not offered to minors; venues and arrangements require confirmation.

05 / FOR TRAVEL ADVISORS & TOUR OPERATORS

A distinctive Spain journey
for culturally curious clients.

A proposed six-day Signature journey, centred on the Wine Horses race and designed for five or six guests. For UK and US travel professionals seeking personal service and cultural depth beyond the familiar routes.

Other group profiles and occasions can be explored through a tailor-made proposal, with individual pricing and separate planning for each group.

06 / BEFORE YOU COMMITTHE PRACTICAL DETAILS

A little clarity.
A better journey.

Can we design a different trip for our group?

Yes. Explore our tailor-made proposals for seniors, friends and celebrations, or families. The pace, duration, activities, accommodation, transport and meals are discussed around your group and occasion. These examples are starting points, not confirmed packages. A personalised quotation applies; Signature's indicative €10,000 per guest is not a standard price for every journey. Each hosted group remains limited to six guests, with separate planning for multiple groups.

What does the €10,000 investment cover?

€10,000 per guest is an indicative planning price for the proposed six-day, five-night Signature journey, normally designed for five or six guests. It is not a confirmed tariff. Your personalised proposal specifies the exact accommodation and room configuration, hosting, ground transport, meals, agreed encounters, applicable taxes and final price. Availability and any supplements are confirmed before booking.

Are international flights included?

No. The proposed land journey begins and ends at Alicante or Murcia airport. International flights are quoted separately because routing, cabin and departure city vary. Your written proposal makes the boundary clear, including arrival and departure-day meals, drinks, gratuities and personal extras.

Will our group really stay small?

Each hosted group is limited to six guests. Private parties and small-group formats are discussed individually. If several groups are organised, hosts and scheduled encounters are planned separately rather than combining everyone into a large tour. Public festival events remain shared with the local community and other visitors.

Does joining a peña mean VIP access?

No. A peña contribution or participation arrangement covers only the activities and permissions agreed with that peña. Horse visits, artisan encounters, private spaces and any reserved viewing must be specifically confirmed in writing. No race participation, priority lane or restricted festival access is automatically included.

When is the race, and is this a confirmed departure?

The Wine Horses race takes place on 2 May; Caravaca’s wider fiestas run from 1 to 5 May. Our proposed Signature outline is 30 April–5 May 2027. This is an enquiry-stage programme, not a confirmed departure. Exact times and activities follow the official annual programme and your agreed itinerary.

Is this a riding holiday or a wine tour?

Neither. It is a cultural festival journey centred on the horses, embroidery, community and celebrations. Regional wine can be part of the dining programme, but guests do not ride or take part in the race.

What practical requirements should we discuss?

Race day is crowded and loud, with steep streets and uneven ground. Tell us about mobility, sensory, dietary or other practical requirements before booking. Transport cannot remove every walking section, and we cannot promise step-free access throughout the festival.

Can a travel advisor arrange this for us?

Yes. UK and US travel advisors and cultural tour operators are welcome to discuss private parties or several groups of up to six. The client itinerary, operating arrangements, pricing and trade terms are agreed individually before confirmation.

Festival dates and traditions: Tourism of the Region of Murcia. The official annual programme takes precedence.
